SAMOprocena, SAMOocena, i SAMOSTALNOST prethode SAMOpouzdanju!
- Razmišljaju o svakoj jezičkoj veštini ponaosob i postanu svesni kompleknosti samog jezika i procesa njegovog učenja i usavršavanja;
- Identifikuju svaku veštinu koju poseduju, razmisle kada i kako je upotrebljavaju i procene koliko im dobro ide kada uporede jednu veštinu sa drugom;
- Da postanu svesni kojom to veštinom vladaju najbolje i osećaju lakoću kada rade određene aktivnosti, a koja veština im i dalje predstavlja izazov, te treba još da uče i rade na njenom usavršavanju;
- Prepoznaju koje aktivnosti na času jačaju određene jezičke veštine, čime se stepen aktivnog učešća učenika na času znatno povećava;
- Izgrađuje i neguje autonomiju učenika;
- Podiže svest o ličnim mogućnostima;
- Daje učeniku do znanja da je njegovo mišljenje bitno;
- Izgrađuje samopouzdanje i ojačava samoprocenu.

SELF-evaluation, SELF-assessment, and INDEPENDENCE are the basis of SELF-confidence
We proudly present one of the projects our teenage groups so eagerly did during the school year! J
The project included creating the Language ID card of the Oxford University Press. This card enabled students to self-evaluate and self-assess their own language skills – reading, writing, listening and speaking, using the specific rating system.
This approach has helped them to:
- Become aware of the existence of each and every language skill, and how complex the process of learning and perfecting a language actually is;
- Identify each and every skill they possess; think about when and how they use it and evaluate their own progress related to different skills they use and develop;
- Identify the skill they actively use with the least amount of effort, and the skill they still have difficulties in developing (meaning they should work more using different strategies in order to make progress);
- Identify and recognize different activities being done during lessons suitable for developing certain language skills; in such a way, students take active participation in the learning process;
- Slowly become aware of what they can do and achieve: the fact that had a great influence on their self-esteem. The students who participated in the project felt much better while learning and they were more ready to face more challenging tasks.
The methodology we use in Crown Education includes the active participation of our students in the process of learning English. It also puts a lot of emphasis on personal development and improvement of different skills of each and every candidate, regardless of their age or level. We believe this is important because it:
- Builds and nurtures students’ autonomy;
- Raises awareness of the possibilities and abilities we all have;
- Shows students their opinion matters;
- It builds self-esteem and improves the ability of self-evaluation.
In addition, as teachers and parents, we strongly support the idea that it is not just important for the students to be able to form and express their own opinions and attitudes, but also to be able to express them in an assertive, effective way, using the right words, always taking into consideration other person’s side.
The whole point of collaboration and working/learning together in a group is to raise awareness of one’s own, as well as the needs, interests, and personalities of other individuals. It takes a lot of effort to adjust and harmonize all that, so that everybody can have an equal chance for making progress. Becoming aware of this fact from an early age (as early as possible) will help children and young people grow into more responsible and tolerant citizens, find their own place in society and know how to help others do the same.
Until then, students can enjoy participating in this type of project, since, as they put it “it’s not only educational but also really cool”. 🙂
